My mom came into town Thursday, so she came over on Friday and that's when we got most of the stuff done.
1. Friday. Terry paid me, finally. $$$ He gave me more than usual, saying that he owed more..so, that's nice. I had borrowed 60$ from my grandma on Friday morning, so I paid her back with Terry's money.
2. I went to a Verizon store to see about getting a credit for the 2 months of non-working telephone service I've been dealing with. I don't need the phone, but I'd like a credit since it's not even working; they don't give credits from store locations, I have to call billing on Monday.
2a. Called for a Verizon repair guy to come and fix my phone line. Got an appointment for the next day (Saturday) between 8am-3pm.
2b. Talked to a lady about my current situation, and how I don't even want a home phone, but need one for the DSL. So she talked about FiOS, and how it's around the same price..but will be cheaper because I won't have to pay for the phone.
3. Got home and ordered FiOS. The guy I talked to was very strange, confusing, and I'm still unsure if he really got everything right. When I call billing on Monday, I'm going to ask them to check the information they have on me for FiOS just to make sure. I had to repeat everything 3 or 4 times to that guy. He was condescending, too. Whatever. Since I already have Verizon DSL, I can upgrade to FiOS and keep the same monthly payments.
4. Saturday. Nizar came over and we worked on some History, but then the Verizon repair guy came over and that disconnected the DSL, so we just watched tv and played with coconut. Yay, Phone Fixed! (not good, actually).. all that night, the internet was going in and out every 20 seconds...but I ignored it.
5. Sunday. So, the internet is broken. lol. If I had kept the phone line broken, the internet would have kept working fine, I think. At least up until October 3rd, when they're coming to install the fiber. But, they fixed the phone..and now it's really hard to do anything online, because after a website finally loads, the internet goes out, allowing me to keep reading the page, but I have to wait a minute or so to wait and go to the next page.
5a. Anyway, so I called Tech Support, thinking they could give me some sort of answer. There was a long wait, mostly I think because of the hurricane-related phone problems. But, I had it on speaker phone, so it was no big deal. I told the guy my problem, and he ended up having to call LEVEL 3 TECH SUPPORT (!!) which is the highest level. They informed me that the only way to fix it would be to...cancel my service and start over completely. That might be an option, but it takes 5 days for that to happen, and in 7 days, I'll have FiOS. The level 3 guy said that he's surprised that I even have working DSL...after having no phone service for 2 months. I'm not even sure if that's true. I would like for the repair guy to come back and just check to see that everything is in the right way. I really still don't even understand...but the guy said that after long inactivity, the internet would have gotten cut off. But it's not...so, what?
Anyway...so, to conclude. I went to Verizon to fix my phone. I ordered FiOS. My phone got repaired. My DSL broke. My DSL is gonna stay broke. I'll get FiOS on October 3rd.
I have a new cell phone. Not sure I ever wrote that down, but it's nice, I like it. Nokia 3220. My favorite feature is the voice recorder. It can record a phone call and get both voices from the conversation. I recorded some funny things from a conversation with my dad, or just stuff I need to remember. I also like the speaker phone feature, but according to Nizar, it sounds like crap if you have it too far away from your face. But, I love the feature, especially when being put on hold for tech support.
The most interesting feature of it is the lights on the side. WIth the ring tones already in there, it flashes very nicely along with the tone. With downloaded ones, it's only one color, but it still goes with the beat. It flashes orange, red, green, and I've seen a yellow-ish color, too...but it's probably just when orange and green kinda blend. You'd have to see it to understand.
The camera is awesome, too. It takes better pictures than any I've seen on a phone. It's best outdoors, in sunlight..but it works good in any situation. No flash, but there's a Night Mode...and video recorder. I just hate the storage capacities. It's nice that everything Media related is in one pool, so if you need more space for pictures, you can just erase some of the preset wallpapers that are ugly, or whatever you want.
I hate the sound it makes when you have another call, it's hardly even audible at all. I'd like to learn how to turn it up, or change it. Also, to press enter, you have to press in the direct center of a square button, which is quite difficult.
It has a good calendar feature, and it's overall perfect, for me atleast. OH! plus, the back of it is clear, and it includes a stencil so you can cut out and insert any picture you want. I have a picture from the newspaper of Maroon5. And caller groups get whatever ring tones you want. So, I have separate groups that are Family, Nizar, Goodly Friends, Everyone else. I like knowing if it's Nizar, Family, or Friends before I run to pick it up. It's very customizable, I wish you could program light color and placement for specific events, I'd be all over that orange. But..it's all preset. And nice. <3<3<3 3220.
